An opportunity has been opened for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse on the Surgical Acute Dependency Unit at Frimley Park Hospital.  We provide level 1 care for 8 patients and we are looking for recent experience within this care environment.   Care for a wide variety of surgical conditions under surgical specialities such as Colorectal/ Upper GI,  Urology and other specialist services. The variety  of patients lead to challenging situations however this will gives an opportunity for learning and development.  

It is an opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills, decision making and ensuring effective patient flow in the department. All of those skills are the key to maintain patients safety, satisfaction and the best possible outcome.

Main duties of the job

Key elements of the role include taking responsibility for coordinating the ward on a day to day basis, leading a team of nurses, maintaining high standards of nursing care, assisting with auditing and quality, managing patient flow, safe patient discharges, safe staffing and deputising for the Senior Charge Nurse / Ward Sister in his / her absence. 

You need to have exceptional customer care skills with a focus on patient quality and safety even when under pressure. Excellent interpersonal skills are also a must and you should be keen to broaden your management and leadership skills and be dedicated to developing junior staff (including students). You will in turn be fully supported in your own personal development which will be planned with you to ensure you reach your full potential.
