The opportunity
Are you currently looking for work to fit around commitments such as the school run?
British Heart Foundation (BHF) have a number of opportunities for Registered Nurses to join our temporary staffing service who wish to work flexibly and support patients living with heart and circulatory diseases, their support groups and the general public.
About the role
We deal with thousands of enquiries and as one of our Cardiac Nurses you’ll contribute to the delivery of a world-class helpline service and provide high quality information and support on heart and circulatory diseases and their risk factors.
You'll help, both over the telephone and in writing, heart patients and their families every day, whether it is those living with a heart or circulatory condition or helping to prevent them in the first place. Utilising your knowledge and experience, you'll provide support to hundreds of heart patients.
Working arrangements
You’ll form part of our team of zero hour staff supporting our BHF Helpline.
Able to work flexible, ad-hoc hours with the team, we’ll be able to support you in working flexibly and cater the hours we offer to fit around other commitments you may have.
This is a home-based contract. There will be a requirement to travel to our London offices to attend training when you first join us, as well as some ad hoc meetings and workshops, when required.
About you
With a professional and confident telephone manner, able to explain cardiac information in a clear and simple manner, demonstrating empathy and compassion as required. You’ll also have excellent written communication skills, as you’ll be responding to customers through emails and letters as well as the BHF online community.
An NMC Registered Nurse, you’ll ideally have specialist study in Cardiac Nursing at level 6. You'll also have in-depth knowledge of a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, their treatment and risk factors, and lifestyle issues relating to coronary heart disease.
About us
Every single one of us is vulnerable to the heartbreak caused by heart and circulatory diseases – they are the world’s biggest killers. But the research we fund represents hope. And nothing matters more than finding cures and treatments that give us more time with the people we love.
We value and respect every individual’s unique contribution, celebrate diversity, and make inclusion part of what we do every day.
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, Igniting Change, along with our internal EDI group, Kaleidoscope, and a growing number of employee network groups (our Affinity Groups), help us create an environment where all our colleagues and volunteers can succeed.
Interview process
The interview process will be held over MS Teams.
Interviews will be held throughout the advertising period or shortly after the closing date. If you are shortlisted the Recruitment team will get in touch to arrange an interview and confirm the interview format and panel.
